Procedural level generation?!


The new update 0.8.1 is FINALLY here! 

It has been more than a month since the last update. This is because I started the project from scratch, using a different game engine. I will from now on use Godot as the game engine running the game. This way, I do not have to reinvent the wheel at times (such as UI tools). 

This new update brings a very significant change: Procedural Level generation! Previously all the levels were designed and put together manually. Now, pre-designed rooms are randomly selected and placed next to each other, building up a whole level. This new update also comes with a different look. I have added a shadow effect which creates the illusion of a 3D world which limits the player's vision. This means you might not know what terrible unfortunate event might be waiting for you around the corner *EvIl laugh*. There are now 2 types of enemies which will be referred to as Anti-Viruses; there are Turrets, and Security cameras. I wanted the levels to look like a computer system, which means different types of security layers. Since the play is a virus, it is possible to dash into these Anti-Viruses and before deciding to kill them, merge with them and take control of them! Portals to next levels don't exist anymore. Because now, there are two objectives; find the mainframe, and crack it! Pretty exciting!

 

Unfortunately however, 0.8 does not have any sound or music. This is one of the top priorities for the next update along with a lot more game play features. I hope to have the next update posted before Nov 1st 2019 (*Fingers crossed*)
